As 2017 comes to a close many are reflecting back on the year wondering where did it go? What will I remember most about this past year? I am asking myself these questions and am in awe of the answers. I know God has been with me every day. I could not have lived in Africa away from my family and beloved America, ministering to refugees, the under privileged, prisoners, and non-Christians without His hand on me. I boast only in our Lord Jesus Christ Who makes these things happen.
It has been a very fast paced (oxymoron here in Africa) and exciting year for me. God has shown me things that I never even imagined. I've had the pleasure of serving some of God's special children that may not have been touched by His love if I hadn't been willing to "go". And you have touched thousands of lives by being on the ground with me through supporting projects such as: Blanket distributions that gave people their own blanket (some for the very first time), back packs and metal lockers for the school children that gave them some privacy and a place to keep their things organized, to prisoners who were shown someone cares, especially Jesus Christ, many Trauma Healing Workshops were given that helped thousands of people come to know that Jesus is th
eir ultimate Healer, and the monthly Sunday school lessons in several different areas that focused on God's plan for us in a concise and chronological way. Hundreds of children and adults received these messages. The photo at right is of the Nativity drama that was put on by the children of Eden 2 UMC. The Golden Child children from Aura put on one as well.
Below is a picture of the Sunday school lesson of Jonah. They learned not to run from God even when we may not agree or understand what it is He wants us to do. They heard the Word, then made bracelets to represent each part of the story: Sin, the Word, Following, Confessing, Forgiveness, and Salvation. All of these things were made possible because you have chosen to be here with me through prayer and finances. Thank you is an under statement, but I don't know what else to say. I know that our "... Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you." Matt 6:4
Before I close this newsletter I would like to give you a thought for a New Year's resolution from Oswald Chambers: "There is only one relationship that matters and that is your personal relationship to a personal Redeemer and Lord. Let everything go, but maintain that at all costs, and God will fulfill His purpose through your life."
God bless you and I pray you receive all the good things God has for you in 2018!
Carolyn
