Since January 7, devastating wildfires have ravaged Los Angeles County, displacing tens of thousands of residents and claiming at least 24 lives as of January 14. The Palisades fire, the first to erupt, has consumed over 23,000 acres and remains the least contained, while the Eaton fire has added to the destruction. Both rank among the deadliest and most destructive fires in California’s history, and with high winds forecasted, the toll is expected to grow.
Our hearts ache for the people of California and the California-Pacific Conference of The United Methodist Church as they respond to the immense needs of their communities. The Florida Conference is stepping forward in solidarity by making a gift of $10,000 to support relief efforts.
